DIA as the name suggests is a forum for Designers, Interior Consultants and Architects. DIA was formed to create a common platform to discuss and exchange ideas for the benefit of the trade. These interactions are focused on creating a bonding amongst the professinals and share ideas on changes that are happening in the industry and the latest development in designs across the world. The whole idea is to enrich and improve the quality of work both aesthetically and technically and hence the quality of life in the ‘City of Joy’.DIA is proud to have Mr Karan Grover, a stalwart in his own right as a mentor of the group. We published the first edition of ‘Dialogue’ a magazine intended to be a ready refrence guide for all members, partners and associates. Mr Karan Grover graced the occasion and launched the magazine. Apart from doing seriouswork DIA members also has regualr social outings and get togethers some including the family members. We also arrange cricket matches and other events to promote heathy living habits amongst the members.

Objectives of DIA

  • To induct members from the design fraternity and strengthen the Association.
  • To drive awareness programme in better understanding of the responsibility of design fraternity towards the society.
  • To embrace latest technology through knowledge sharing from different fields of design by conducting seminar, conference, workshop, panel discussion.
  • To conduct training and development program for enrichment of design skills.
  • To provide opportunity for manufacturers, services providers and distribution channel partner related to the design fraternity by organizing Exhibition, Trade Fair, Business expo.
  • To pledge for rediscovering our country’s rich culture and philosophy through our design endeavor.
  • To facilitate or initiate any design movement for preserving and restoring cultural heritage of any form and state.
  • To propagate sustainable development for the lives and the living through design.
  • To publish newsletters, journals by encouraging articles from designers.
  • To safeguard the honor and dignity by maintaining a high standard of professional code of conduct.
  • To participate in welfare activities with social cause.
  • To convene social meeting to enhance and strengthen fraternity feeling, mutual trust and fellowship. 

Composition of the Association

I) Governing Committee: responsible for all

affairs of DIA consisting of not less than 10

Members:

  • President
  • Vice president
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Joint treasurer(optional)
  • Executive Members(Ten)

ii) General Body of members comprising of all categories of members.

iii) Special sub-committee: nominated for specific function.

Election of the Members

In the Annual General Meeting, all office bearers i.e. the President, Vice president, Secretary and the Treasurer, of the Governing Committee shall individually be elected amongst General Members(Designer Category) in the open session of the General Body. The other Committee Members will be selected and chosen by the office bearers to form the Governing Committee from the General Members(Designer Category)

The term of office of the Governing Committee shall ordinarily be for 2(two) years unless it is dissolved /terminated early under unforeseen circumstances.

Provided further that a person is elected as President of the body, he would not be eligible for being appointed on any other post for life.

Such persons who are once elected as the President may contest for the second and a final term based on the performance and a final term to serve the organization. The general members may re-elect the president for a second consecutive term by normal voting process as stated in the Memorandum.

The resignation and removal of the Governing Committee members shall be dealt with as has been prescribed as in the case of other members noted hereinbefore.

Filing of nomination for the post of Office Bearers can be filed by an individual through a written application to be the Governing Committee only after the date of AGM is declared and prior to fourteen days from the date of holding the AGM. The Secretary will then release the nominations for the post through a circular.

Any existing Governing Committee member of DIA can not join any Governing /Board Committee of similar association without resigning from the DIA Governing Committee AND any member of DIA holding  a Governing /Board Committee portfolio  of similar association can not contest in any post by putting his/her nomination during election/selection of the DIA Governing Committee.

Duties and Responsibilities  of the Governing Committee

  • Overall planning, implementing and general supervision of all the affairs of the Association.
  • Preparation of Annual program outlay
  • Preparation of Annual budget and enforce financial control
  • Decide on eligibility, admission impeachment and cessation of member
  • Appoint special sub-committee with such power and duties to discharge specific function
  • Conduct any activity for attainment of the object of the Association and not repugnant to such object.
  • To accept donation, gift, subscription, movable or immovable property for the object of Association.
  • To sell, lease, mortgage or otherwise dispose off and deal with all or any part of the movable or immovable property for the objects of the Association.
  • To keep proper accounts of the Association and to open bank accounts in the name of the Association in one or more banks.
  • To co-opt not more than two members to the Governing Committee
  • To appoint a person/persons to assist the Secy./Treasurer in the maintenance of the accounts etc.
  • To conduct any other business not specified herein for the attainment of the object of the Association provided such business is not repugnant to such object.
